    Power plan?

Upon checking, it seems that there's nothing wrong with your system. It is usual that you have to double-click your mouse before your monitor wakes up.

For the meantime, we suggest changing the power plan by following the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + S.
    • Type in Power Settings.
    • On the pop-up window, choose Additional power settings.
    • Select High performance.

After changing the power plan, we suggest that you monitor the changes made and check if that will work for you.

Get back to us if you need further help.

  3. Windows 10 keeps changing power plan to high performance

Yesterday I updated to the Windows 10 Creators update, and now that I'm stuck with it, my laptop keeps changing its power plan to High Performance whenever I start a game or video, and at other points in time with no discernible pattern other than 'just
often enough to really piss me off'. My screen brightens to maximum, my keyboard lights up, and my battery usage is multiplied several times.

The problem here is that if I wanted it to switch to High Performance mode, I would tell it to... but I don't. Ever. I made my own power plan that suits my needs, so I really wish Windows would stop thinking it's smart and let me decide how to run my computer.

I'm not using any third-party software for power management. I knew that already, but I've checked anyway just to be sure.

I already tried running the power options troubleshooter, against my better judgement, and of course regretted the decision after it not only completely failed to solve my problem, but also it managed to change settings in the power plan I actually want
to use so I got to go in and clean up after it.

I already tried running 'powercfg -restoredefaultschemes' and restarting. No more than four seconds after I finished importing my power configs and closed the command prompt, my computer switched to High Performance for no apparent reason.

It has switched to High Performance mode TWICE in the time it took me to type this, which was about four minutes.

My laptop is an ASUS UX303UB with an NVIDIA 940M graphics suite. I have a feeling that last bit might be part of the problem, but it hasn't been a problem before.

Beyond booting into Ubuntu, which I would love to do but can't due to a need for Windows-specific software, how do I make this stop?

My battery power plan keeps switching to high performance

How to keep laptop at High Performance

I am so talking about the Windows Power Options. I get to it by right clicking on the little battery icon down on the right side of the Task Bar.
When I set the Power Options to High Performance, there is nothing there about the battery. All I see there is "Change settings for the plan: Power4Gear High Performance" and all I see there is "turn off display / Put the computer to sleep / adjust plan brightness."
When I go to Control Panel and then to Hardware and Sound, then to Power Options, I have Power4Gear High Performance and Power4Gear Power Saving. I also have created a couple other Power Plans which I have made as High Performance also. Using one of these does nothing when I unplug other than switching to Power4Gear Power Saving.
Also, under Battery, there is nothing grayed out.
