  2. SATA drive not being recognized on Gigabyte Mobo

After I updated the BIOS to the latest version 8 I was able to have the SATA recognized.
After running sfc /scannow for maintenance I can't get the SATA drive to boot first. It is recognized in the BIOS and is listed first in the boot order under Advanced BIOS Features.

When the IDE drive boots it is not recognized in either Windows Explorer or disk management.

Any thoughts on why I can't see the SATA drive anymore would be appreciated.

Internal Sata Drive shows up as removable drive

The P4P800 DLX has an Intel 865PE chipset and an Intel ICH5R southbridge which controls the sata function. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make windows recognize the drive properly? my bios does recognize my sata drive.

My bios will not recognize my sata 3 Drives help please

    System stopped recognizing SATA drives?!?!

So I've been running my system just fine for about a month now, with the following config:

    AMD Athlon X2 4200+
    ECS nForce4MA mobo
    2G DDR2 667
    dual DVD-RW
    2 x HDD: Maxtor 300GB SATA 150

I have WinXP pro installed on one partition on one of the SATA drives. As I mentioned, I've been humming along rock solid for about a month, writing files to both partitions on HDD1 as well as HDD2. Then today, I restarted my system and neither HDD is found at all. On boot, the system sees both DVD drives, but can't seem to find either of the disks. I would suspect a drive failure except that neither one is recognized.

I tried pulling and re-attaching the SATA data cables, went through the BIOS settings toggling SATA control on/off, etc. Nothing seems to be bringing them up. I am fairly certain the disks are powering up, since I think I can hear them, and if I touch their cases, I think I feel them spinning up.

What could cause a complete drive failure like this? Mobo controller failure??? Any suggestions on how to go about troubleshooting this problem?

Help!!! (and thanks in advance to anyone offering suggestions).
