Windows 10: My bitlocker recovery key is no where to be found?

My laptop recently got bitlocked and I have searched everywhere for the recovery key, every email I have, my parents back home posted the USB that came with the laptop but it got lost in the mail so I never got it. The only thing I can think of is that my college had the key, but since I left last year, they have deleted my details and all my data. Surely Microsoft wouldn't allow a school or college to manage the key, knowing they will delete it when the student leaves? Is there any other way my recovery key could be accessible? Thankyou
