Windows 10: My Bluetooth icon has disappeared from my action settings and cannot be added as well.

My Bluetooth icon has disappeared from my action settings and cannot be added as well. The option for turning on Bluetooth in settings has also disappeared. My laptop is run under a different administrator so i do not have access to device manager and cannot troubleshoot as well please help thank you

This issue could be due to a corrupted driver on the system. As initial troubleshooting, we suggest running the automatic troubleshooter for your Bluetooth device. To perform the troubleshooting, please follow these steps:

• Click the Windows icon.
• Choose Settings.
• Under Settings, choose Update & Security.
• On the options on the left hand side of the window, click Troubleshoot.
• Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth and click
  Run the troubleshooter.

I am Matt, an Independent Advisor and a specialist technician. I would like to assist you with this and hopefully I can help you to resolve this issue promptly.

Firstly restore the icon to the task bar please follow the steps below.

1. Right click on your task bar (preferably where no icons are)

2. Select "Task bar Settings"

3. Scroll down to the sub section called "Notification Area"

4. Click "Select which icons display on task bar" and select Bluetooth.

(This step just pins the Bluetooth icon from the "^" icon to the left of your clock to assist with further diagnosing)

Now I know this is not the action centre but it should pin the Bluetooth icon to your task bar to the left of your clock which will allow you to manage Bluetooth which will help confirm if action centre or Bluetooth is playing up.

To turn on Bluetooth in the action centre follow the steps below.

1. Press your windows key / or open start menu and type "Notifications & Action Settings"

2. Click on "Notifications and Action settings" once it appears.

3. Click the blue hyperlink "Add or remove quick actions" and ensure Bluetooth is set to on.

Now reboot your computer and see if both the Bluetooth icon and the Bluetooth quick action icon disappear together or just one of them.

Assuming that you have a Bluetooth card, run these checks -

Do you have a Bluetooth entry in Settings, Devices?



If not then Windows does not think you have a Bluetooth card. Check Device manager for a Bluetooth group.

1. If neither of these is there then you do not have a Bluetooth card or you have disabled Bluetooth in the BIOS. You should check your BIOS for a relevant entry but BIOSes vary so I cannot suggest where such a setting might be. You could seek advice from your computer maker or their user forum.
2. If one is there but not the other then you might be able to get it working correctly by reinstalling the driver from your Computer / Bluetooth card maker's website.

You can customise the items shown in Action center but Bluetooth, if it is enabled, is generally put there by default. As explained above, you can customise what is shown by playing around with Settings, System, Notifications. You can add more entries or you can drag off existing entries or you can drag existing entries around to get them in the layout you prefer.
