I already tried many internet methods to fix this, and they won't work. I once accidentally got it to normal, but then it immediately reverted back with a little icon on the front of the screen for a second.

When I plug in my laptop I can change my brightness manually but when it's not charging (eventhough it's not on power saving mode) sometimes the brightness gets stuck on low and when I use the brightness keys (f2 & f3) I can see the brightness bar changing
but there is no actual change in brightness I even used the brightness bar in notification panel and the one in the settings but they don't work either

Option 1: To check for the brightness settings, please follow the steps given below and check if it helps.

1. Press the Windows key on the keyboard.

2. Type Edit Power Plan.

3. Click Change advanced power settings.

4. In the list, expand Display, and then expand Enable adaptive brightness.

5. To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is running on battery power, click On battery, and then, in the list, click On or Off.

6. To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is plugged into an outlet, click Plugged in, and then, in the list, click On or Off.

7. Click Apply. Click OK.

Option 2: Update Display drivers in device manager

1. Press Windows key + X when you are at desktop.

2. Select Device Manager.

3. Expand Display adapters.

4. Right-click the display driver and click Update Driver Software.

5. Select Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software.

Option 3: Update Monitor Drivers in device Manager

1. Press Windows key + X

2. Open Device manager > Collapse Monitors > Look for Generic Non-PNP Monitor

3. Right-click on Generic Non-PNP Monitor > Select Enable Device if the device was not set to Enabled.

4. Right-click again on Generic Non-PNP Monitor > Update Driver > Click Search automatically for updated driver software

5. Click Close. Check if your brightness is now working.

Windows 10 Screen Brightness Problem

Upgraded to Win 10 from 7 on Gateway Laptop and screen brightness is stuck on very low setting. Keyboard controls show increase in brightness but nothing happens on the screen. Went into settings and adjusted brightness to max on battery
and power with no change. Upgraded drivers - no change. Suggestions please.
