Windows 10: My built-in computer microphone is not working.

Hi everyone,Since last week, my computer's built-in microphone has stopped working. I've tried several troubleshooting methods, but nothing has worked so far. The authorized service won't provide remote support and is asking me to ship the device. I'd be really happy if I could fix this issue before sending it in.When I connect a Bluetooth headset with a microphone, that microphone works, but the built-in one still doesn’t. It doesn’t appear in OBS or Nvidia Broadcast I get a "Virtual audio device recording failed" error. In Zoom, I receive a "Microphone not detected" error. as you can see

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
• 
  Now, Right Click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
  
• 
  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.
  

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.

• What type of upgrade are you referring to, is it a system upgrade or an update?
  
• What is the complete model number of the tablet?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit Enter.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to perform the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Hardware Troubleshooter

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Microphone. Refer these steps:

• 1. Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
  
  2. Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
  
  3. Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
  
  4. Run the Hardware and devices.

Check if it helps.



If the issue persists, I suggest you to download and install the latest audio drivers from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.
