Windows 10: My built in HD Webcam on my HP Laptop stopped working and is not appearing on device...

My camera has stopped working randomly and I got my HP Laptop in 2020 or 2021 please tell me what I should do

HP laptop webcam stopped working, and driver problems

On my HP for some reason the driver is always downloaded from microsoft by windows update!
You should try to get the MS one I guess.

Look at the attached images:




This is how you see it in device manager.




Maybe you should try to update the driver manually or even choose :
Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer and see if
you can find it.

 

HP Laptop built-in webcam recognized but not working in Windows 10

Hi,

Trying to help out a friend who has a HP 17-by0053c laptop that was given to him. It is approx 2 yrs old. No software discs came with the laptop.

Running Win10 Home.

Summary: There is a built-in webcam that appears in device manager, and passes HP diagnostics but does not work.

HP Support Diagnostics program indicates the camera is working.

Occasionally I will get a distorted single image from it, but nothing else. Usually it is black.

It appears blank in Skype.

There is no camera button on the keyboard, nor is there a switch on the side.

There is no HP driver for it under hp's website - it is not needed for Win10

I uninstalled the webcam from device manager and rebooted, events look ok.

Trying to update the driver from Device Manager yielded nothing.

No driver rollback option

I uninstalled the Camera app, and reinstalled.

I checked privacy settings, and all is fine there.

I updated the BIOS.

I ran HP updates, and windows updates.

I ran a SFC and DISM, and it fixed the majority of the problems it found.

I checked Windows Defender's firewall, and all appears fine.

I attempted to install video drivers from hp's support page for that model, but that stopped as it wasn't supported under Windows 10.

I attempted to install chipset drivers from HP, but that stopped because of Win10 as well.

I installed VLC player to acquire various video codecs

I installed Youcam to see if other software had a problem. Youcam sometimes comes with HP laptops.

I uninstalled webroot virus program, and reinstalled camera from device manager.

I can't get my webcam to show up or work, it is listed in device manager. I have HP laptop.
