Windows 10: My C:\ Documents folder is permanently set to read only

Hello, I don't know how long my files have been like this but I noticed that my entire c:\ is set to read only. I've gone through the steps to give myself permission to literally everything, however my Documents are still are read only and when I uncheck it in Properties it just immediately comes back, despite ensuring I have the right security on the folder. I need help, none of my school work will save now and none of my games either.

Permanently setting files in the Documents folder to Read and Write

One of my programs automatically saves the files I make into the Documents file folder. Whenever I go to edit the files, it says that they have been checked as read only. I go into the properties menu for the Documents file folder and uncheck read only,
and then I am allowed to edit the file after restarting my application. However, whenever I reboot the computer for any reason, the Documents file folder is automatically set to be read only. How do I get it to be permanently set to be read and write?

Note My computer is school owned, so I don't know what difference that makes or if it does.

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Is is possible to move the Documents and Settings to a seperate HDD

Hey all, i have my computer up and running again. I was wondering if there was a way to move the Documents and Settings Folder off of the C: drive and to a separate Hard Drive. I know you can move the My Documents folder over but i don't know if its possible to move the whole documents and settings folder?

Any Help Would be appreciated
