Windows 10: My camera light is on but camera is off

Recently my computer cameras light has been on most of the day but the camera is off. When I go to camera settings, it shows as off and then when I go to advanced settings my computer cant even find a camera bc i think I deleted it once this started happening. Every setting Ive looked at in settings shows nothing using the camera, so how do I turn this off?

Step 1: I would suggest you to open Camera app and check if you are able to access the webcam or not.

  Type camera app in search bar and you will be able to open camera app.
  

Step 2: I suggest you to install the latest available web-cam software from the manufacture web site and check if it helps.

Step 3: I suggest you to check for the latest updates.

  Press Windows logo key +R, enter
  MS-settings: and then press OK. This opens Settings.
  
• 
  In Settings, go to Update & security >
  Windows Update, and then select Check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required.

Camera Low Light Threshold

Hi there, I was wondering if there is a registry setting or otherwise to change the low light threshold of the webcam on Win 10. When the detected brightness of the webcam feed is below a certain threshold, Windows seems to assume that a privacy shield is covering the camera. I would like to (ideally) disable this feature altogether or at least raise the threshold so it is not so easily triggered. There are cases when, even if the light is so low that the camera feed looks awful, I still would prefer to keep the camera feed going rather than display the gray overlay that is triggered when it is really dark in the room. For reference, I've attached an image of the aforementioned privacy shield overlay image that replaces the camera feed when the detected brightness is too low.

Hey Dalchina, I did speak to Lenovo and go over the camera settings available in the Vantage app, but there isn't anything, unfortunately. Your t440s doesn't have a privacy shield, right? When both the privacy shield *and* a camera utilizing app are open, the camera LED light illuminates. When I turn off the lights in the room, the light remains lit, but the feed changes to that image in the OP. As I write this though, I fear that may just be a "feature" of the driver, and not a setting exposed directly to Windows. Before I posted, I thought the gray 'check privacy shutter' image--as well as the 'crossed out camera' image you get when the camera isn't detected--were coming directly from Windows. I've googled a bit more now, and I frankly only see those images in the context of a Lenovo system, so I may be hosed after all! lol
