Windows 10: My camera on Teams is showing a picture of a camera with a line through it. How do I fix that?

How do I get my camera on Teams to work. Now it shows a pic of a camera with a line through it.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 camera showing blank in MS Teams

Hope I've posted this in the right forum.

I have a Corporate user who is using a Microsoft Surface Book 2, and he's experiencing issue activating the built-in camera when using TEAMS only. Both the front and rear facing camera shows a blank black image. The light next to the front facing camera does light up thou.

The native MS camera app works fine and shows the video correctly suggesting that it's not a hardware fault.

And here comes the strange part - If I undock the screen from the keyboard and start Teams again the camera works and it will continue to work once I dock it back into the keyboard. However the problem returns if I quit Teams or restart the machine....which is a nuisance to perform this workaround everytime it reboots.

He had this same issue couple of months back, but somewhere it started working for some unknown reason....until the problem returns...

As mentioned since it's a corp device it is unfortunately stuck on Win10 build 1709 (for now), and he is the only person that has the device in the business and nobody else.....

Any suggestion or idea of how to resolve this is greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Laptop camera not working in teams

Having issues with my laptop camera not working in Windows 10 have tried the following, and it still will not work. Looks like the webcam light is light but it still shows no picture.

tried to uninstall and reinstall a different driver to see if that would help, but that did not work either.

uninstalled and reinstalled teams and that did not work either

Tried to reset the camera app and that did not work

Any suggestions will be helpful to resolve the issue

 

camera app that supports taking picture at fixed resolution

I am looking for a camera app that allows me to set the maximum resolution of the pictures being taken. The stock windows 10 camera app always takes a picture at the maximum resolution of the camera (3264x1836) so the resulting files are large. I have to take the pictures and upload them to a website for long term storage but they limit the maximum file size to 4Mb. A large number of the pictures I take are much larger than that. I want the camera app to either automatically shrink the resolution of the picture after it is taken or allow me to set a fixed resolution like 1024x768 or 1280x1024 or 1400x900. I have a surface pro 4 running windows 10 1803. It just updated to 1803 while I have been working on this problem. The stock camera app updated to version 2018.227.30.1000 and doesn't have this functionality either.
