Windows 10: my camera shows up as a portable device

    my camera shows up as a portable device


    I want to use my nikon coolpix s33 as a webcam but when I plug it in it turns off and wont turn on until I unplug it, after going to device manager I see that it shows up as a portable device instead of a camera and I have tried downloading Nikon Webcam Utility too and it still doesnt work. If you know how to help I would be greatly appreciative

    Portable devices not showing in Device Manager

    Okay so I have some more information. It recognises portable drives but nothing else -- camera, phone, nothing. Doesn't matter if I plug it into the computer or the hub.

    Plus "Portable devices" shows back up in Device Manager as soon as I plug in a flash drive.

    followed steps to troubleshoot error code c101002e,tried expand portable devices and my phone is not listed. Although zune does?

    Portable devices not showing in Device Manager

    This morning I tried to download pictures off my camera but I couldn't. After searching for a solution I then discovered that there is no tab in Device Manager for "Portable devices" or "Other devices" and now find that it won't recognise any portable devices.

    I've tried numerous forums but can't find an answer -- any assistance please?
