Windows 10: My camera tells me my camera is covered or switched off. How do I switch it on?

Today my camera stopped working. The message is the camera is blocked or switched by a switch or a button on your device. The actual camera says it is covered or switched off. As far as I know I have not touched it. I checked the manage cameras it says it is enabled . It is switched on for all the apps I use, but it can't even recognise me when I try to log in and I need to use my passcode instead.. It won't paste the error message or screenshot here . Instead it says something went wrong. I have rebooted the machine . All to no avail. The computer is less than 6 months old.

Lost camera switch !

Since I don't know which update I lost the switch camera icon (the one that switch from front to back camera). ANY suggestions? my tablet is Insignia model NS-P08W7100-C

On my surface pro 3, I am unable to switch between the front and main cameras. The is no "camera switch" icon in the camera app.

On my surface pro 3, I am unable to switch between the front and main cameras. The is no "camera switch" icon in the camera app. When I search for online help, I see that there should be a number of other icons visible in the top options bar within the app,
but none of these options are available? Any suggestions?

My problem is with my Surface Book 3 and the installed camera not an independent camera. After a recent update with the Microsoft Window update, I cannot switch rear/front view on the window app or surface camera.
