    Thanks for your assistance.

    I tried your first suggestion but it did not help.

    I have now reinstalled Windows as you suggested.

    However, nothing has changed. I used to be able to right click the start button and access both Command Prompt and Command Prompt (Admin).

    I cannot access either of them. It has worked for as long as I can remember but stopped suddenly when I had a program (Pinnacle Studio 22) lock up last week.

    In fact I cannot get sound with that program at the moment yet I can get the previous version to work. Not your problem. I am talking to Corel.

    Any other ideas?

    cannot access command prompt or command prompt (admin) from start menu

    I was using Pinnacle Studio when it froze. On rebooting I discovered I had to reinstall my drivers for video and audio. I decided to use SFC /Scannow to check Windows. I discovered I could no longer access cannot access command prompt or command prompt
    (admin) by right clicking the start menu.

    I have since run SFC using CMD with no errors.
