Windows 10: My computer appears stuck on black screen during full reset

I'm afraid I cant tell you about the model of the computer I have, as this is an old computer that has been with us for years and was not doing that well. I do however know that this computer has 2 drives, C and D, together adding up to a total of 1tb of storage. Due to terrible placement of games and other files throughout the storage, plus some windows system 32 files missing like shadowplayonstart, we decided to completely reset the machine. I confirmed the actions I wanted the machine to take, and it restarted, but has only had a black screen, with the monitor light off despite being connected. When I plug the cord out of the computer it recognizes that it has disconnected, but no video appears when plugged back in.

The main thing I want to ask is, is it safe to restart the computer? I have never seen the percentage on the screen saying the conputer is resetting, so I have no idea if it is or not. The computer itself is lit up and is making noise, fans are going etc, though I dont know what that could mean exactly. Obviously I dont want to restart the machine if it has already removed half of Windows, but I also dont want to wait 10 hours for nothing to of happened anyway.

Any advice is very much appreciated, again I dont know the exact model or anything but I will try to answer any questions anyone has

• When you say that "it needs more time or it stuck somehow", what is the current status of the issue? Is the computer still stuck at black screen or in process of resetting the computer?

If the computer in process of resetting, then I suggest you to wait for some time.

asus e200ha - black screen after reset

I have a laptop ASUS E200HA Vivobook that I originally got with windows 7, and upgraded a few months ago to windows 10.

I tried to reset the computer and delete everything from it. I first chose the option of a normal reset (removing all files and accounts, which was indicated as not taking too much time). The reset process started and got stuck at 58%, and after a while I received a blue screen stating that there was a problem with reset. I tried 3 times.

Then I decided to try the second option (the one that takes several hours). After selecting this option, I have a black screen with 2 options to press f8 or f12. I think, as far as I can remember, I pressed f8 (the order of events may have been reversed, previously stuck at 40% then the black screen appeared). I let the computer work and went to sleep.

When I got up I saw the computer trying to boot, the ASUS logo followed by a black screen. I tried to somehow get into Windows but without success. I also tried the option of forcing the computer to shut down after the logo appeared 3 times as indicated in the ASUS documentation.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to solve the problem without a technician?
