Windows 10: My computer had been shutting down automatically on low battery and only lasts one hour

Recently my computer4 years old has been automatically shutting down from anywhere at 20% to 15% on battery only. I do not receive the notification my power is low and sometimes there isn't even the green icon that signified low battery on the bottom right corner of my screen. After the computer shuts down I can still turn it back on without plugging the charger in and then I will receive a notification. Not only that but the battery only lasts one hour until it shuts down. I have tried troubleshooting the issue as another thread mentioned but it told me there were no problems, I even tried restoring the original settings yet the problem still persists.

We suggest that you check if the low battery notification is turned
on. Kindly follow these steps:

• On the search box, type Power Options to see the laptop's power plans.
• Click on Change Plan Settings.
• Click on the Change Advanced Power Settings.
• Scroll down and look for Battery.
• Expand it see Low battery notification, turn it on for both
  On battery and Plugged in.

A few users are reporting this same problem, so that may be caused by a Windows 10 update, though it is not a recognized bug as yet . . .

Right click the battery icon on your Taskbar, choose Power Options

On your current Power Plan, click 'Change Plan Settings'

Click 'Change Advanced Power Settings'

On the resulting list, scroll down to find Battery

Set the Low Battery Level to 10% on Battery and Plugged in

Set Critical Battery level to 5% on Battery and Plugged in

Set Low Battery Notification to On

Set Low Battery Action to 'Do Nothing'

That's it, save those settings and restart (not shut down) your PC . ..
