My computer is 32 bit when it's supposed to be 64 bit

In the About page under Settings, the system type says: 32-bit operating system, 64x-based processor. I tried looking this up but not many solutions worked, how can I fix this?

All Applications Run On 32 Bit, While My Computer Is 64 Bit

32-bit software cannot be made to run in some kind of '64-bit mode.'

32-bit software runs very well on 64-bit hardware. 64-bit software doesn't run 'better' than 32-bit software. Running 32-bit software on a 64-bit computer does not cause lag or freezing. For example, I have 32-bit Microsoft Office and it runs very well
    on my 64-bit computer.

  3. 32 bit IE needed for Win10 laptop

    Here is my problem:

"The computer you're using is running a 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows. A 32-bit version of Internet Explorer is required to use Outlook Web App S/MIME. 32-bit versions of Internet Explorer are included with 64-bit Windows operating systems for your
    convenience."

I don't know how to access this supposed 32-bit version of IE. I did try a download of IE9 32bit, but it says it's incompatible. Is there a way to run 32 bit alongside, so I can choose?

My computer is 32 bit when it's supposed to be 64 bit

Apparently a 32 bit OS was installed.
Most computers built in recent years are 32 bit capable but are running a 32 bit OS. An OS does not become 64 bit merely because it is running on a 64 bit capable computer.

There is nothing here that appears unusual or that would indicate a problem. Many tablets have specifications that make a 32 bit OS a better choice than 64 bit. A computer with less than 4 GB RAM is probably better off with a 32 bit OS.

The install media used to install Windows was 32 bit. To get to 64bit Windows, you will need to get a copy of 64bit of Windows and reinstall the operating system. Unfortunately, you cannot "upgrade" 32bit to 64bit, without having to wipe it clean and start over.

What are your system specs? Your profile says it's a tablet, so I assume that you probably only have 1 or 2GB of memory. If that's the case, you're better off with a 32bit OS as it uses less memory than a 64 bit one does. It also uses less disk space, which can be a premium on a tablet.

Here is the link to the official Microsoft Media Creation Tool
    Windows 10

And yes, if you are on a tablet, or have less than 4GB of RAM, stay on 32bit.

Nah its not a tablet. That's kinda weird. It's 8gb ram, AMD A6-4455M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 2.1 GHz. Uses windows 10 home.

Well, you should update your system specs then in your profile.

If you have 8GB, then you should have noticed a long time ago that you were only being allocated 4GB of memory.

    Windows 10 - Clean Install - Windows 10 Forums

Short version: you need to create a bootable USB flash druve or DVD with the 64 bit installer on it. Boot the PC from that, and clean install Win 10.

My personal practice would be to get the Windows 10 ISO and create a bootable USB drive from that using DISKPART. It's easy but not without risks: a little carelessness and you'd wipe one of your HDs rather than the flash drive you're trying to prepare.

My computer is 32 bit when it's supposed to be 64 bit

Install Windows 10 64-bit ISO from here. Use a utility to create a bootable USB Flash drive with that ISO, or burn to DVD if you can boot from a DVD. Backup all your data and then boot with that. Delete any partitions present and proceed to install Windows 10. No need to create any partitions, Windows Setup will automatically create the necessary partitions. When asked for a key click Skip. Then select Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro, according to your present version (selecting the wrong version won't activate). After installation is complete install any drivers necessary and connect to the internet to activate.

Caution: Avoid using Diskpart as mentioned by the other poster. It is far too easy to make a mistake and lose data! Just backup your data, boot with the USB or DVD and follow the above steps.

I can't see any reason or benefit to using Diskpart when the Media Creation Tool will do it with one click, or using Rufus will give you a few more options. Just my personal appearance, I know some guys like total control with command line commands....more power to you!
