Windows 10: My computer is freezing up after I started using a new monitor

I recently upgraded my monitor and have been having problems with my computer freezing up. I built this computer about 9 months ago and was using an older monitor that was not 4K. It had 1920 X 1080 resolution and 200hz refresh rate. A couple of months ago I upgraded to a 4K monitor 28" 3840 X 2160 with 60hz refresh rate but I was having problems playing World of Warcraft Retail and Classic. My computer would lag and I was only getting about 10-20 fps in the game when I was raiding. A week ago I bought the same monitor, ASUS TUF Gaming 28" 4K, but with 144hz refresh. I started using this

computer freezes on start up

Hi,

I am trying to fix a computer and would appreciate any suggestions of help.

I start the computer, it loads, gets to the windows screen, the blue segmented line goes across a couple of times then the whole thing freezes in that spot, the blue line stops moving and that's as far as it gets.

Things I tried:
F8 - safe mode
- last known good configuration
- Start Windows normally
- (etc)
When I tried these it just came back to the F8 screen.

Pushing 'R' didn't do anything (I was told this could make a repair) o.0 ??

Tried to boot up from an operating system disk by changing the boot up menu (delete) and this didn't work either. All it did was get to the windows screen and the blue line moved across a couple of times and it froze again in that spot.. exactly the same as when I try to start it.

I am clueless now as to how to get this computer working. Any ideas?

 

New monitor suggestions, £200 budget

So I am getting (hopefully) £200 of amazon vouchers from work for Christmaqs and have decided I want to get a new monitor, my current is a 23" Samsung Syncmaster, I believe it's a TN panel and the res is 2048x1152. It really is starting to get on my nerves as the coloring is not very natural so I am thinking an IPS panel would probably be a lot better quality wise so I am open to some suggestions as I really don't have a clue when it comes to monitors.

Things to note:

• I do not want to go smaller than 24"

• Would prefer 27" if possible for the budget

• If not then perhaps 24" 120hz

• I currently run 2048x 1152 though 1920 x 1080 is fine

• Must come in at or around £200-£250 absolute max
