  1. my computer is not visible on network with Win 10 1809

I have a home network with 2 windows 10 computers. On computer-A I just reinstalled windows (now using release 1809) after getting a new hard drive but now computer-B can't see it on the network. In fact when I use file explorer on computer-A to browse the network I can see computer-B, but computer-A is not listed. If I do a Network Reset on computer-A, when I reboot, if I use file explorer to view the network it shows both computer-A and computer-B, but if I try to browse a shared file on computer-A (from computer-A) I get the "0x80070035 Network path not found" error. The next time I reboot computer-A no longer shows up in file explorer, network. Computer-A responds to pings from either computer.

I'm not running any third-party security software.

    I've already done the following:

In advanced sharing the following checkboxes are selected:
    Private network profile (current profile):
    Turn on network discovery
Turn on automatic setupof network connected devices

    File and printer sharing:
Turn on file and printer sharing

    Guest or Public:
    Turn on network discovery
Turn on file and printer sharing

    All Networks:
Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders
    Use 128-bit encryption...
    Turn off password protected sharing

Enabled SMB 1.0/CIFS file sharing for all 3:
    Automatic removal
    Client
    Server

    TCP/IPv4 is enabled
    TCP/IPv6 is enabled

    DCHP is enabled
    Under advanced tcp/ip settings:
    Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP

Verified that the following services are on with automatic startup:
    Function Discovery Provider Host
    Function Discovery Resource Publication
    SSDP Discovery
    UPnP Device Host

    :)

Win 10 Network Printer Connection Problem

I have tried, when using the wifi from a Win 7 computer to connect to the printer connected to it. Others can connect.

I did do the three steps outlined:

    • Open File Explorer. Pick the "Network" icon from the left pane (navigation pane) of the file explorer UI.
    • If sharing is turned off you will see a pale yellow line towards the top of the window that states "Network Discovery is turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. Click to change...".
    • Click this bar and select "Turn on network discovery and file sharing"

    None of the suggestion worked.

I did notice that the PC I'm connecting to is 'Private' while I am listed as 'Public'.

    • Can this be causing the problem?
    • Are there other suggestions?

I need to be connected to use the other printer so work flow can not be disrupted and someone else needs to print the file for me.

I will be with this group again on Monday.

    Thank you.

    NAS server not visible

We have a NAS server on the network. One of our laptops recently got destroyed by water damage and had to be replaced. The new laptop is Win 10, and the NAS server is not visible on the network. On the old, now water-damaged laptop (Win 7), the NAS server had a desktop shortcut, so even if it wasn't visible on the network, the files could still be accessed.

How can I either force the computer to recognize the NAS server, or create a desktop icon that is linked to it without it being visible in the network listing?

    Thanks.

My computer is not visible on network

Resetting the network settings may help reconfigure settings that may help resolve the issue. Since the issue still persists, we suggest checking the Advance sharing settings if network discovery is turned on. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Control Panel.
    • Click Network and Internet.
    • Click Network and Sharing Center.
    • Click Change advanced sharing settings in the left pane.
    • Under the Private section, make sure that Turn on network discovery is selected.
    • Click Save changes.
Get back to us with the outcome so we can help you further.
