Windows 10: My computer reboots without properly shutting down regularly, also closing lid and putting...

Asus Vivobook 15 ProEverytime I close the lid to my laptop, it will without fail reboot without properly shutting down. All my apps and tabs are closed improperly. I think it has something to do with my power settings, the computer will not sleep properly when the lid is closed. Additionally, often when I close the laptop and put it in my backpack sleeve, it will get very very hot, smell of hot plastic, and kill the battery.

Computer shuts down when lid is closed


My computer doesn't suspend or hibernate when I close the lid no matter which configurations I set on power options. It always shuts down the computer. If I click the power button before closing the lid, it suspends but when I close the lid he shuts down. I've tried to update the bios, it solved the problem but its happening again. I've also updated Intel Management Engine Interface driver as advised by asus and did not work.

PS: If I set it to do nothing it doesn't shut down, just does nothing, which is really not useful for me.

Closing Laptop Lid Powers On Computer

After shutdown, I have to close the lid when I see a black screen to turn it off. If I shutdown and wait, closing the lid reboots the computer. The power button doesn't work after shutdown. I have to open and close the lid to power on.

I disabled fast startup which helped properly shut it down, but closing the lid powers it back on. I changed the "choose what closing the lid does" to "do nothing" on both battery and plugged in and that didn't work.

I think it might be a corrupted driver issue but I'm unsure the proper way to reinstall all the drivers. Thanks.

 

Closing Laptop Lid Powers On Computer

I ran the power troubleshooter and it adjusted the dims setting, changed power plans, and adjusted the screen brightness. I did a clean boot and reset the power plans to default but the problem remains.

When I shut down and leave the lid open, it shuts down and powers back on. If I shut down and close the lid, it stays off. Then to power on, I have to open and close the lid.

Edit: Closing the lid powers off and opening the lid powers on. It also reboots after shutdown if lid is left open.
