It is particularly slow after being awoken from sleep mode and when starting up, though the problem of slowness occurs commonly during computer use. Today, while using Word, a text appeared and did not disappear stating that Runtime add-ins was starting and would take a moment.I know there could be many reasons for the slowness but I have tried various strategies without enduring success e.g. clean up files, remov

  2. .NET runtime and the web of insanity

Thanks for the update, Don. Regarding the .NET Framework and .NET Runtime, the .NET Framework consists of the common language runtime (CLR) and the .NET Framework class library. The common language runtime is the foundation of the .NET Framework. For further
information regarding this, kindly check the articles below:

    Overview of the .NET Framework

    Common Language Runtime (CLR)

Whether you need any of them or not depends on what you're running. Some applications out there are still built for older .NET versions. Installing the most recent version is recommended, for you to check if your application will work with it.

If you have further questions and or encounter any errors, it is better suited for the IT Pro audience on MSDN. Please post your concern through this
    link.

    Regards.

  3. Prevent .NET Runtime Optimization Service from running on battery?

    Hello,

We still can't identify the possible causes of this .NET Framework issue you're experiencing. For us to isolate and assist you better with this, kindly answer the following questions:

    • Which version of Windows 10 are you using right now?
    • How about the version of the .NET Framework are you using?
    • Can you also tell us the exact error message you get, if there's any?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

We look forward to your reply.

    Microsoft .NET Framework, Unhandled exception

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to un-check and recheck .Net framework 3.5 and .Net framework 4.6 advance series from Windows features.

    Try the following steps:

    • Press Windows + R keys to open Run command.
    • Type Appwiz.cpl and select "turn Windows feature on or off" from the left
    • Uncheck .Net framework 3.5 and .Net framework 4.6 advance series.
    • Restart the computer
    • Repeat step 1 and 2 and check .Net framework 3.5 and .Net framework 4.6 advance series.
    • Restart the computer.
