  1. My computer storage is a mess

Earlier in the year, I partitioned my C: drive. I wanted to use the new D: drive for my media, so I moved all my music and videos into the new drive.

I think I accidentally changed some settings like optimizing specific folders for music and whatnot. Somehow, the drive was separated into 2, one called 'video' and another called 'music'. Any time I opened drive D:, it would show exactly the same thing that was in 'video' and in 'music'. I have no idea if this makes any sense.

Anyway, I thought that if I moved back all the music and videos to their former location, it would solve the problem. So I did just that. I then merged the drives again. I don't know if that solved anything though.

I then partitioned the drive again to have it for my media. This is when some strange things happened:

    1. The deleted music and video drives were still there and could not be deleted.
    2. A lot of documents pinned themselves to Quick Access and I can't unpin them for some reason. Whenever I try, it says 'location is unavailable'
    3. When I opened drive C: and went to 'users', my profile was missing so I had to create a new one.
    4. Whenever I scrolled down the bar on the left that shows the libraries, the PC, the desktop etc, the bottom part of the bar seems to be freezing and dragging along. It's like a glitch at only the bottom part.

I have actually considered backing up my things and just resetting the laptop.

Is there any help I can get?

    Thank you

    :)

    CHKDSK messed up

    Continue with zbook's excellent instructions.

But if you want to try and get into the BIOS again just to check:
    From your product's website:
Opening the Startup Menu during system startup on computers

Follow these steps to open the Startup menu when the computer is powered off.

    1. Turn on the computer.
    2. Immediately press the Escape key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Startup Menu opens.

    You should get this option:

Conflicting information on my Storage Space...

From disk management, it does report the same storage and used space as from explorer.
May I ask did you try to create a storage pool or something ? if so, you should not mess with this.

Is this disk an external disk connected via USB ? WD or Seagate branch ?

I have the feeling that this disk is formatted with GPT type using 512K emulation so Windows get confused. To verify:

    1. Right click on Disk 6 ->Properties->Volumes. What does it show on partition styles ? GPT ?
    2. Download Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Free, install then run. What does it show on disk 7 ? MBR ?

If step 1 shows GPT and step 2 shows MBR then definitely the disk was formatted using 512K emulation. The reason they did this so that it would be recognized by WinXP or if you connect it to a TV.

Windows Updates failed is another problem you have. First, it tried to updates from 1703 -> 1709 and failed so any subsequent updates to 1803 also failed.
