  1. My computer updated to Win 11 without consent and reverted on its own to Win 10

Hello,I have been searching this forum for a solution to my problem... I have not found an answer.I started my computer like normal and it had updated to Windows 11 first time it done so successfully. I notice my desktop files are missing so I go into C:/Users/"myusername"/desktop. And from there I drag my desktop files out to my desktop. I now have all my files and folders as I had before update...My computer asks me to restart. I press OK, My computer restarts back in Windows 10 without my files in desktop. I go back to C:/Users/"myusername"/desktop, it is now empty. I have all files and hid

  2. Trying to connect to a printer that is physically on a Win 10 computer from a Win 11 computer to no avail.

    Hello Geldman,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble connecting to your printer. Since you’ve already tried the solutions suggested on the internet, here are a few more things you can try:

    1. Make sure that the printer is shared on the Win 10 computer. To do this, go to the printer properties on the Win 10 computer and check the box next to “Share this printer” in the Sharing tab.
    2. Ensure that the printer is visible to other devices on the network. To do this, go to the printer properties on the Win 10 computer and check the box next to “List in the directory” in the Sharing tab.
    3. Try disabling any firewalls or antivirus software temporarily on both the Win 10 and Win 11 computers to see if that resolves the issue.
    4. Check if the printer is compatible with Windows 11. You can check the manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers and software for your printer.
    5. Try connecting the printer to a different USB port on the Win 10 computer.
    6. If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings and then setting it up again.
I hope one of these solutions works for you,

  3. Win 11 computers cannot network but Win 10 can

I have 3 desktop computers that I need on my home network. Initially, Computer 1 has Win 10 Pro, Computer 2 has Win 10 Pro, and Computer 3 has Win 11 Pro. All three talked to each other, shared files etc.

I then upgraded Computer 2 to Win 11 Pro.

Now, Computer 1 (Win 10) can communicate with Computer’s 2 (Win 11 Pro) and 3 (Win 11 Pro) and Computer’s 2 and 3 can also communicate with Computer 1, but I cannot get Computer’s 2 and 3 (Both Win 11 Pro) to communicate. The only change made was the upgrade on Computer 2 so it’s likely the problem.

I have tried everything I can find to try:

    1. Clear all credentials from Credential Manager
    2. Disable Credential Manager Service automatic Startup
    3. Turn off password-protected sharing
    4. Modify Local Security Policy
    5. Add the credentials in Credentials Manager
    6. Set IP address to automatic
    7. Change Network Profile to Private
    8. SMB Direct checked
    9. SMB 1.0/CIFS Client checked
    10. All three boxes checked under SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support checked and unchecked

Most procedures are repeated on most web sites and I still get the Credential required screen.

I’m considering reverting back to Win 10 Pro on computer 2 as a last resort.

  4. My computer updated to Win 11 without consent and reverted on its own to Win 10

Network between Win 10 and Win 11 computers

I had 2 Win 10 computers that talked to each other fine. Through Windows Explorer I was able to see and manipulate files one the other.

Now that one of the computers is Win 11, I can't see the other either direction. The target folders are all shared with full control permission.

When Win 11 looks for Win 10 I get a "can't access location" error. When Win 10 looks for Win 11, I get a log I'm requirement looking for ID an PW. (FWIW, my Win 11 computer makes me enter a PIN when I log in. I'd love to bypass that but can't figure how.)

Also FWIW, I've shut off firewall to see if Win 11 can reach Win 10 but still "can't access".

    Suggestions?

    Thanks.
