Windows 10: My computer was sent out for repairs and I didn't know the product key beforehand.

So A few months ago I believe in November I sent out my computer to get repaired because it wasn't starting up. Before it was sent out I didn't know that you had to activate The computer. Also I did not know how to activate it at the time. but its a few months after I have gotten it back and I was wondering why I couldn't do the same things as I could before but it turns out I had to activate it and now I'm confused because I don't know the product key because when I sent it out for repairs I left everything in the box And I didn't receive the computer in the box so this means I have lost my product key. I don't know what to do because i cannot figure out the product key and I don't know if I will ever find it. please keep in mind this is my first time owning a Microsoft computer

There is still a way to search for your product key. Kindly follow the steps below for you to know your product key:

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (admin)
• Enter the following command: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
• Then hit Enter

The product key will be revealed, copy the product key then enter it.

Give us an update on what happens.

 

Notification didn´t appear

Windows 10 has ben released for 1 day and a half,and I didn´t get the notification for installing.I reserved it.Can anyone help me?

PS I am running Windows 7 and it´s up to date.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.
