My computer wont change my default storage from C: to D:

Hello my name is Charlie and I'm 17.

Recently something on my SSDs in a computer I build got corrupted. For a quick fix I bought a second hand hard drive from CEX and installed into the computer so that I could reinstall windows onto it, start fresh and wipe the SSD later on.

I noticed that the C: drive where windows is stored was getting filled up while my main D: was not in the slightest. I thought this was weird so I went into settings and under "change where new content is saved", I set it all to the D: drive. Unfortunately this didn't work and file kept getting saved to the C: drive that is now almost completely full. When downloading applications if it gave me an option I would change the location of the file to the D: drive however sometime it doesn't give an option. I have no idea what to do, I think it has something to do with formatting the drive however whenever I look up a solution I'm met with people telling me to go into settings which as I've already discussed hasn't worked.

Any help would be much appreciated,

    Thank you,

    Charlie

    :)

  3. Changing the default storage designation for the Microsoft Windows Store and various apps.

    Hi Isaac,

The default storage location for the Windows store and apps is in system location where Windows is stored (This PC-> C drive), if you want to change the default location of the apps then I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the settings
    and check if it helps.

    • Open Settings and click on the System icon.
    • Click on Storage on the left side, on the right side under
Save locations, select the drive to where you want your
      documents
      , music, pictures, and/or
      videos
to be saved to by default.
    • Click/tap on Apply.

The above settings option is available only from the Windows version (10586), I suggest you to check in which version of Windows build in installed on your computer.

Please get back to us with an update on this issue, we will be happy to assist you further.

    Thank you
