    Missing menu key on Keyboard.

I also have a new Windows 10 HP (Zbook G3) which is missing the Windows Menu, and now a new Lenovo T460s is also missing the Menu key. This seems to be a pattern: new laptops with Windows 10 don't have menu key on their keyboards.

It's a quite a step back in productivity, as now I have to remove my hands the keyboard, stop from rapid typing and fumble with the mouse just to bring up a context menu for a quick spelling correction.

Did Microsoft change the certification process for the keyboards to exclude the Menu Key in Windows 10?

    Keyboard with Tux keys

He's not talking about it from a control standpoint. He want's to physically replace the Windows keys on his keyboards with ones that have Tux on them.

    Missing menu key on Keyboard.

    Hi Chetan,

Please answer the below question to assist you better.

What is the make and model of the keyboard?

The key which you are referring to is called as the application key or the Menu key.
It provides quick keyboard access to the important context menu (also called the “shortcut menu”) that has a number of frequently used functions. The context menu is usually accessed by right-clicking a file or
folder but having a keyboard method can be convenient.

The item whose context menu you want to open has to be selected first so the application key shows its utility best in keyboard combinations that provide quick shortcuts to the various functions of the context menu.

The application key will bring up a context menu within many (but not all) programs when the program is open. For example, the key works with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word. These internal context menus are not the same as
the ones obtained by selecting the icon or file for an unopened program. They provide quick access to various functions, which vary with the program.

As the keyboard doesn’t have the application or Menu key you could also use the on screen keyboard and use that particular key.

To open it, type “On Screen Keyboard” on
    Search tab and select it.

Hope this information is helpful regarding the missing menu key on Keyboard.
Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.
