Windows 10: My Corsair HS80 USB headset is showing up as Speakers... want to change it back to Headphones.

I have been using this headset for a while it was okay until 1 or 2 weeks ago but now it is showing as a Speaker.OS Build: 22621.2070Version: 22H2Edition: Windows 11 Pro

Headphones detected as Speakers, please help.

I have recently bought a Corsair HS80 USB and could not find out how to fix the bad playback quality. At first, I thought it was the headphones causing the problem, but it wasn't. I have tried everything I can think of to fix the quality but found no solution. I was this close to returning the headset, but I did not just want to buy something I really needed just to return it without even enjoying it.

Later on, I realized that Windows detects the headset as a "Speaker", and not labeled as a "Headset". It also was not detected from Realtek drivers. I plugged back in my old headset, which is an AUX cord, and it was detected as a "Headset" from Realtek drivers.

Is the reason why the quality is bad is because Windows detects my new headset as an actual speaker, and automatically changes the quality of the playback to make it sound better if it was a speaker and not a headset?

What type of headphone? USB or with a standard TRS plug?

Also, some audio systems have option to either mute speakers when headset is plugged in or to not mute the speakers when the headset is plugged in. Check your sound control for this option.

Please fill in the "My Computer" specs as all we can do is offer general suggestions without it.

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
