Windows 10: My cortana search shows blank results

Today I noticed my cortana search looks completely different. When I go to type in my search box, I get blank results, no matter what I type. I have verified that Windows has indexed nearly 50,000 items for windows search. How can i fix this?


My first picture shows what happens when I "click on" the search box.


But the moment I start typing anything (in this case, i typed an R to see "remote desktop"), it all goes blank.







Looks good in image 1. but now image 2 shows what happens when I start typing.

Hi all,


when i push the win button and type to search for an app or anything i get this result.


i have restarted explorer.exe and completed these steps here: Cortana not finding Desktop apps when searching for them - Microsoft Community


but still nothing,

No search result showing

Suddenly today my searches don't show any results. I tried to reboot my computer, rebuild the search index, restart Cortana and nothing seemed to help.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the issue. It doesn't matter what I type, I always get a blank screen.

Any suggestions?

 

Search without Cortana

The search function on Cortana showing both local and online suggestions is designed to help users to gain full access to all the possible search results. If you're trying to search for a local file without picking up online suggestions, we recommend that
you use the filter option to refine the search. Here are the steps on how to set the filter:

• Type the word that you're trying to search.
• Select the appropriate filter for the desired result.
  
  
  
  
• Wait for the list to load and click the desired search result.

Basic searches like, function, settings, and location doesn't require filter. In addition, you can click the drop-down arrow for
Filters to view other filter type.
