Windows 10: My cursor only shows on some pages & not on others. How do I get the cursor to show all...

I can't even cut & paste from the question to here as I can't highlight the text, not even with touch screen!I have a new Lenovo Yoga & have followed all the recommendations to show cursor but it still only shows on some pages. It's only showing while I'm typing here but as soon as I try to move, there's nothing. not actually the usual cursor sign, only a straight line where I'm about to type. When trying to move the cursor, items will highlight when the cursor apparently moves over them but this is very frustrating.If i move my cursor to the bar below, the cursor shows immediately!Pl

The cursor does not show up on the google page.

Try reloading the page (press F5), closing and re-opening the tab (Ctrl+W, then Ctrl+Shift+T) or restarting firefox.

The google-page (I'm assuming you mean the mostly blank frontpage google.com) is a very simple-coded page, and in terms of html, there should be no reason for it to change anything about the cursor. Please make sure the site you are on is indeed google.com and not a clever redirection to a similar site with malicious intents (as in google.con. No, that's not a real site).

Common reasons for the cursor to disappear are usually either scripts/flash in the browser, applications that do not respond, or applications which (intentionally or accidentally) hide the cursor (for instance, a game running in fullscreen). None of these are on the google frontpage.

If you are viewing the google page in a firefox tab, but other tabs in firefox show the cursor, I'm out of answers. But if you are viewing it in another browser(-instance), then maybe a restart or reinstall might help.

 

Cursor no longer shows on login screen but appears after logging in

After a recent Windows update my cursor no longer shows when I turn on the computer and get to the login screen.
I can still log in, though...I click the Ctrl button and I can then type into the password screen.

But until then I have no cursor. Most of the time this is ok. But I do like to respond when Microsoft puts a new picture on my screen and asks if I like it or not, but now without a cursor there I can't do that.

Short of rolling back the recent update, any suggestions on how to get the cursor to show?

I have run the sfc /scannow which didn't help. I checked for updated drivers for my touchpad. I changed the type of cursor displayed.

Thank you both for your prompt replies, I tried all steps listed, some I had tries previously but I still tried them again, but still no cursor.

Do you have any other suggestions?
