  1. My D: drive is loading extremely slow on chkdsk /f

My pc had a bluescreen, so I ran chkdsk on all of my drives and the D: drive is loading extremely long, the ETA is telling me over 1000 hours, the drive is loading like 1 file per 2 seconds and it has 281088 files. But I have many many games and files on there and when I use the Explorer they open imidiently without any long waiting. Right now it's at 701 files out of 281088 i reseted it before because I thought it wasn't right and it's saying ETA 32:42:25 and it keeps going up and up. And this is just stage 1, anyone who knows what's happening? Why the chkdsk runs so slow but in Explorer fi

  2. Jelo Sen Win User

    chkdsk c: /F

We appreciate the response. I'm referring to Check Disk (chkdsk) utility tool. If you haven't tried yet, we suggest that you run a chkdsk by:

    • Press Windows Key + X button to bring up the power user menu.
    • In the power user menu, select the Command Prompt (Admin) option.Click Yes when you are presented with a UAC window requesting permission to launch the Command Prompt as Administrator.
    • In the new Command Prompt window, type chkdsk E: /f /r /x. Here you should replace E with your drive letter.
This option will run chkdsk to check and repair disk errors in Windows 10. The “/f” parameter tells CHKDSK to fix any errors it finds; “/r” tells it to locate the bad sectors on the drive and recover readable information; “/x” forces the drive to dismount
    before the process starts.

Keep us updated with the result.

  3. CHKDSK interrupted - now can't access Drive D:

I had a file folder on my secondary drive D: which I wanted to delete. Windows wouldn't delete it and gave me an error code 0x80070091. A Google search suggested running CHKDSK and I did that (chkdsk
/f /r DMy D: drive is loading extremely slow on chkdsk /f :). However, there was a power failure when CHKDSK was at 10%.

Now Windows will load correctly (drive CMy D: drive is loading extremely slow on chkdsk /f :) but my secondary drive D: is inaccessible. In Computer Management/Disk Management, the drive is shown as RAW.

When I load File Explorer, it seems unresponsive (maybe because it is looking for D: but can't find it).

I have a fairly recent backup of my D: drive and should be able to reformat and reload but I'm not sure this is the solution because File Explorer will not become active. I suspect that the link to the system from D: has been disabled (Terminology????).
If drive D: was simply RAW, I would have expected File Explorer to load normally and show Drive C: but it won't do this.

When I right click the D: drive in Computer Management/Disk Management, the format option is grayed out. Therefore, I believe this means that I can't format the drive.

If I open a command prompt and attempt to change to drive D:, I get the following error message "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

Is there some other way to reformat D: and reload or is there some other issue concerning relinking D: to the system that I should pursue?

  4. My D: drive is loading extremely slow on chkdsk /f

    Chkdsk /f

    Hi,

The error message "Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected." is usually occurring if there is a write protection tab on your hard drive or the partition file system is corrupted or damaged due to malware infection or
    other unknown reasons.

For us to provide an accurate solution, we would need you to answer the following questions:

    • Which build and edition of Windows 10 is installed on your computer?
    • What changes have you made to the device before this issue occurred?

For initial troubleshooting, we suggest entering the command chkdsk E: /f /r /x in Command Prompt. Take note that you should replace
E with the drive letter for your PC's hard drive or USB drive. Once done, check if the same issue persists.

Important: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive, if any bad sectors are found when chkdsk tries to repair that sector, any data available on it might be lost.

We'll be waiting for your response.
