Windows 10: My daughter's laptop has stopped recognising her PIN.

My daughter's laptop stopped recognising her PIN. She used her laptop in one lesson, closed the laptop and went to lunch. When she tried to use her pin for the next lesson it said "this sign-in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns. Use a different sign-in option or keep your device powered on for at least 2 hours and then try again."We can't keep the machine powered on for at least two hours - it keeps timing out and going into sleep mode.We tried to reset the pin, and the password - we can't remember the password - but we are not receiving a code to he

Can't create pin for login. Pin stopped working

Hi Kevin,

To resolve your concern about creating pin to your computer, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Navigate to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC (click to get permission when prompted).
• Delete the contents of that folder (delete everything in that folder, but leave that folder and everything above it).
• Go back to settings, accounts, sign in options.
• Your non-working pin will now be gone, and you can just click 'add a pin' and set it again.

Laptop not recognising passcode

Thank you for reporting this problem. I'm an engineer with the PIN sign in team and my team is investigating this issue. If your PIN sign in is failing with the Incorrect PIN error, please use the following steps to collect logs that will help our investigation:

• Upvote "PIN not recognized after update" in the Feedback Hub (paste this link into your browser to open it: feedback-hub:?contextid=112&feedbackid=71ff0908-b1e5-4671-a257-ce8319808327&form=1&src=2)
• Expand "Add feedback details" and click "Begin Monitoring" and reproduce the issue of not being able to sign in with PIN
• Monitoring persists across logon/logoff and reboot
• Click "Stop Monitoring" then "Submit and upvote"
