  1. My Default Apps "Choose an App" for web browser shows two entries for one app. One app...

I uninstalled Firefox from my computer then reinstalled it. When I went to read the .pdf files, I got an error message that the Firefox account could not be found. I then looked at the default apps for reading .pdf and found there were two listings for Firefox. I switched the default to the second Firefox account and the .pdf files could be read. I then went to the Settings for the web browser and also found two listings for Firefox. I then switched this to the one that worked for the .pdf files. How can I get rid of the Firefox listing that does not work?

    :)

  2. MSSQL and Web App

So for class I have to make a Database using Microsoft SQL Express 2014. I have made the database and a few tables, populated said tables.

Now I'm looking into what I have to do to make a web app that would look nice for any users wanting to make use of my Database. How does the work I do in MSSQL get added into a web app and what/how do I make a web app that works with MSSQL? I know sql has its own code but how does the web app make the queries?

If someone can point me to some good books or sites to read that would explain / teach that would be great too.

  3. Apple Claims Steam Link App Violates App Store Guidelines

Here's what Valve is contending with:
App Review Guidelines - Apple Developer

The ones that stand out that may have caught Steam Link:
So yeah, there's a lot of reasons why Steam Link would get rejected.

App submissions and approvals is a thing between developer and Apple. Valve intentionally let this information leak probably because Apple's restrictive guidlines will never allow Steam Link to be on the store. Valve is hoping the Steam user base makes a lot of noise so Apple grants Valve and exemption. I doubt it will work. Apple loves control and Steam Link is a portal into the Linux/Windows ecosystem. Even if Steam Link were exclusive to Mac OS, Apple would likely demand Valve use Mac OS's remote desktop features rather than Steam Link.

I'd be shocked if Apple allows it.

    web apps

ok so as i was reading the latest Maximum PC there was a small article about the possible future of web apps and "cloud computing" and was very intrigued so i went home and researched it a little...and there are some AMAZING web applications, such as

peacekeeper benchmark, browser based app that can detect and output your internet speed, hardware, software config

widgetop, allows you to take data and widgets from your own desktop and put it into a virtual desktop of your own the the site.

game-o-meter, can detect and compare computer specs. (virtual mark is very similar)

screencast-o-matic, desktop video recording without installing software!

you convert it, allows you to upload any file from your PC and convert it to (i think) every file type every made and than you can just download the file again in the format you just selected.

so my question is: how were these apps made? what language (i know some are java...but is it javascript?, visual java?) did they use dreamweaver? just give me info *Smile My Default Apps "Choose an App" for web browser shows two entries for one app. One app... :) i really want to get into this.
