Windows 10: my desktop and 3D-objects folder got the same path after a failed path movement.

i was busy redirecting folders from my c drive to my d drive. everything went very fast and no problems until i did the desktop and it said it couldnt be moved or something, but i clicked yes to fast, thinking it was te proceed to move dialog. after that, my D drive became my desktop folder. i managed to redirect EVERY single location without the loss of any program. very happy thats out of the way... and im back where i was, however now my desktop and 3d object folder share the same path. all the others i got fixed however if i change any of the 2 desktop or 3d objects folder path, both paths change. i dont know how i can change 1 path without the other doing the same.

How to rename the default folder "3D Objects" to "Work"?

Hi,

I am not a graphics expert or have nothing to do with 3D modelling and hence have no use for the folder name "3D objects".

I would rather rename it to something useful like "Work"

please can you assist me in this?

to achieve only change in the label name.

I need change in the path name too, as when after changing the label, when i opened the folder in command prompt, the path name had 3D objects.

i have reverted the changes done by me.

3D Objects folder

No, fortunately, it's not that serious.

My user folder is still intact and everything works OK. Its just that it has the '3D Objects' label assigned to it.

For instance, in explorer view it displays as 3D Objects but when I click the address bar the full path displays correctly as C:\users\<username>. There is no functional impact just an annoyance. In the unlikely event that I use
Paint 3D or Mixed Reality Viewer at some point my user folder may become untidy with 3D Object files.

I moved 3D Objects via it's properties location tab. However, this will no longer allow me to relocate it saying
Can't move the folder because there is a folder in the same location which cannot be redirected. Access is denied. I get the same message where ever I try to move it.

Under 'This PC', is it showing as '3D Objects' or 'Dave'?

What is the path shown on the Location tab of the folder's Properties dialog? Copy this path to the clipboard for the next step.

While you sort this out, you can avoid the confusion of file-system name vs. display name by doing the following:

WinKey+X -> Window's PowerShell (Admin)
Type the follwoing:
sl<space><paste path from Clipboard>
ren desktop.ini desktop.sav

Post back with results.
