Windows 10: My desktop folder became my E: drive, can I fix it?

I'm not sure about every terms, English isn't my first language.I'm not sure what I did but my desktop folder ? became my E: drive ?. Everything I put there appears on my desktop. I could move most folders from it except Program Files, WindowsApps and XboxGames which I couldn't move.

Desktop folder appears to have 'merged' with 'E' Drive on Windows 10

I installed a new HDD to my PC because my other drive was getting full.

I (foolishly) tried to move all the files on my desktop (mainly video files) to my new E Drive.

This has caused the Desktop folder to be renamed 'E' and any files added to the E drive now seem to appear on my desktop.

Note from the attached screenshot that the folder with the desktop icon now reads "E:/"

When I open the "New Volume - "E:/" it is simply a mirror of the desktop.

How can I fix this so that the desktop folder is called 'desktop' again and that new files save only inside the E drive itself rather than on the desktop. In other words how can I separate or unmerge them.

Desktop is now accidently labeled E:\ and all items in the E Drive are displayed on Desktop

I was moving files to get more space on my C Drive and moved the folder that is the desktop to the E Drive and in the process it became labeled E:\ and all the items in the E Drive are now displayed on the desktop. So any amendments to the E Drive - new
folder/ file are automatically seen on the desktop.

Any help with restoring the desktop files but keeping the desktop folder in the E Drive buit not labeled as E:\ I want to

store the desktop on the E Drive to save space on the C Drive.

Desktop Folder move to another drive trouble

Hello everyone,

I'm new to Windows and am setting up my new machine, I followed these directions to move my desktop folder to a different drive(by Aileen Alf almost to the bottom): Redirecting

A new folder was not created on the E:\ drive, it just put the only thing on the desktop on the new drive which is an alias for Microsoft Edge. I have tried to restore Default in Properties, Location but I get an error saying "The folder can't be moved here
Failed to build the list of regular subdirectories under "E:\System Volume Information".

In File Explorer next to the Desktop icon it shows E:\ rather than saying Desktop so it really did move the folder there but its going into the main part of the drive without a folder named Desktop.

I read several other ways to move the folder and they say to create the folders on the new drive first but I followed this procedure as it was given by a Microsoft Agent in this community.
