Create Show Desktop Icon

I want the old XP desktop icon. There used to be site that told you how to make it and get it on Windows 10. I have searched for over an hour and can't find it. There is a thread on this site about it, but I don't understand it. I am not a computer maven. I need simple, step-by-step instructions. The site I found a couple of years ago was SIMPLE. It took 3 minutes to create the icon and have it work. The thread on this site that points you to a download--well, the download simply doesn't work. I can download the file, but when I click on it, nothing happens. Also, I want the actual desktop, not a list of files on my desktop. Yes, I know about the horrid little, tiny double bar thing on the right that will take you to the desktop. Doesn't work for me. Tiny, tiny, tiny, and why on earth should I scroll halfway across the planet to carefully maneuver my mouse to click on that. It's faster to close every darned window! Please, I really need this icon. Every time I want to see my desktop, which is a lot, I can't. Thank you.

 

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
