Windows 10: my desktop is stuck at the login screen

earlier this afternoon i tried signing in but it said i had to be online so i clicked on the wifi icon and connected to the wifi but now i cant click anything. My mouse can still move around the screen and the buttons seem to be working but i cant seem to do anything else. Ive tried doing a bunch of things like clicking win+ i and win+x but nothing like that is doing anything. as far as i can tell the space bar, the f keys, and the caps lock keys are the only ones really doing anything. another weird thing is that a spotify playlist started playing through my brothers account (which i dont use). Even weirder is that this playlist is not the last one i played... i dont know what to do

To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

• Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
• For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
• When was the computer last updated?
• Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
provided below:

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

Windows 10 Stuck at login screen


As said in the title, my windows 10 is stuck at the login screen

Couldn't Hold shift and Restart because for some reason i don't have the shutdown button

It's nearly impossible to interact with the login screen, mouse moves but things don't get highlighted and no matter what you write it hever shows up.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

• Are you able to login to Desktop?
• Are you able to see the login screen?

The power icon referred in the steps is present at the login screen. If you are able to see the login screen where you enter the password to go to Desktop, then you need to follow those steps. These steps to be followed if you are able to reach to
login screen but unable to go to Desktop.
