Windows 10: My desktop randomly lost all sound, Input and Output

A few days ago my headset crackled and lost all sound, i've since tried everything i can uninstalling and reinstalling drivers from the manufacturers website, i even bought a new headset and the problem still persists the sound used to come and go, occasionally working for 20-40 mins after a few restarts of my desktop but now my pc doesn't even detect my headphones as being plugged in and i honestly have no idea why, any help would be greatly appreciated.Motherboard: Gigabyte H81M-S2VGPU: 1080tiCPU: i7-4790i'm not sure what other info would be useful but ill do my best to answer questions

no input or output audio devices found

Unfortunately, that did not work. There is something listed under the sound now in the device manager and that says it is functioning, but i still have no sound and it states there are no input and output devices.

Why is sound output muted when input is detected?

I'm trying to use a USB Sound Card to output a tone while looking for a sound input. I see that when the input function is selected, the output tone is muted. Is there some device configuration that is causing this?
