Windows 10: My desktop speakers still have audio when the headphones are plugged in.

I'm not tech smart, so please don't use techy language. : I have a Lenovo all in one desk top running Windows 11. I have a simple set of headphones that are plugged into the head phone jack on the computer. When I play anything with sound, I can hear it through both the headphones and the speakers. I've had the computer about a year, but I just started using the headphones recently so I don't know how long this might have been an issue. I've checked the settings and the only sound device that shows up is the speakers. I just need a way to turn the speakers off without turning the head phones

Speakers and Headphones need the same audio pc plugs, what to do?

On Desktops the socket on the rear of the case gets disabled when plugging a headset or speakers into the socket on the front of the case. GHOT's suggestion for getting audio into either speakers or headphones would work but if wanting both working at the same maybe one of those music-sharing splitters seen by young folks listening to the same MP3 player?

 

Laptop speakers and plugged in headphone audio plays at the same time

Just downloaded the most recent Windows 10 update. But now, even when my headphones are plugged in, I get audio from both the headphone and the internal speakers. Instead of a separate "speaker" and "headphone" sections in the sounds menu, it's listed
as "Speaker/Headphone." Surely, this is not a feature people wanted. There is no problem when using Bluetooth headphones, just the audio jack.

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.
