  1. My device reconises my secondary drive but it does not show up in the file explorer.

I built my new computer yesterday and I have 2 drives currently (with a 3rd arriving in about a month) my boot drive works fine and has appeared in file explorer. I have a second drive installed and while it is recognised in the bios and in device manager, under disk drives, it does not show up in my file explorer, meaning I can not use it.

both of these drives are m.2, however the secondary drive is sata based and it is in a pcie slot. (I know, stupid mistake). however since it is detected I was hopping there may be some way to get it to work.

    does anyone have any sugestions?

my motherboard is the MSI MPG X570 gaming edge wifi, the second drive is a WD Blue 1tb drive.

    :)

DVD drive works but not visible in 'File Explorer' (unless disc in drive)

I upgraded to Windows 10 a month or so ago. I now installed a new DVD \Blu Ray drive (LG WH16NS40) as a secondary DVD drive. It works fine but only shows (icon and letter) in 'File Explorer' when a DVD is in the drive. It is listed in 'Device Manager'
an as I said works fine. I have also tried to upgrade the 'Firmware' on the drive because there are two upgrades but cannot because of bad checksum error. I have also tried compatibility mode but does not help. I have tried several things from researching
such as uninstalling in 'Device Manager' but nothing seems to work to 'SHOW' the drive all the time.

    Suggestions?

  3. File Explorer- no drive letters are listed.

The File Explorer in Windows 10, shows the Frequent folders list and Recent files list by default. You can view the drives by clicking on This PC tab on the left site of the File Explorer. But if you wish the File Explorer
to open This PC showing drives list by default, then follow these steps:

    1. In Windows 10, open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.

    2. In the View tab, find and click on Options, listed by default on the far right side of the ribbon.

    3. In the Folder Options window, make sure you’re on the General tab and then find the drop-down box labeled Open File Explorer To. Click the drop-down menu and select This PC. Click OK to
save your changes and close the window. Now your File Explorer opens to Drives list by default.

    Hope this helps!

My device reconises my secondary drive but it does not show up in the file explorer.

CD drive missing from File Explorer

I'm trying to burn an audio CD yet the application doesn't recognise any CD drive. Checking further, the CD drive is not listed in File Explorer until a CD media is inserted that holds valid data. The drive disappears when the media is ejected.
Under view options, the box is unticked for "hide empty drives".
Under device manager the drive shows as present and working normally.
I have tried switching autoplay on and off with no effect (suggested as a fix elsewhere).
    Any ideas?
