    Disc clean up and defrag

    Hi Mia,

    If you want to run disc clean up on your computer, you would need to do it manually.

    Does windows 10 automatically run disc clean up and defrag or have I got to set up a schedule like in windows 7?

    How to clean and defrag windows 8

    Can you please explain on what you mean on the term "clean"?

    Do you mean:

    * Disk cleanup utility?

    *Clean re-installation of windows 8, when you do not have a installation CD?

    *Wiping hard drive completely and not installing OS?

    If it is the first case, follow these steps:

    * Open file explorer or "My Computer"

    * select the Hard Drive that you wish to do these actions on.

    * right click on the selected Hard Drive.

    * click on properties.

    * Go to the tools tab.

    * This tab should show you three options. It is up to you on which order you would like to preform the actions. Both actions are listed there. Defragmentation is the "Optimize" option.

    If it's the later two, I do not think defragment would be necessary as a clean installation of Windows 8 means, removing all user files and programs, and reinstalling Windows.
