Windows 10: My disc usage says its at 100% while nothing is running. How do i fix this?

I got my laptop back in November 2022 and it was running fine until about 2 weeks ago. I reset it just before and it would get resolved for a bit. But now it just doesnt work and i dont know what to do

100% disc usage

I have been having problems with my Dell Optiplex 5260 for months now. I was running Windows 10 but have managed to upgrade to Windows 11 with some difficulty - its not easy with 100% disc usage - but still the problem persists.

When I start up the CPU and Memory are fine but the disc usage is 100%. I have done all the checks for damaged/failing hard disc but its fine. I have worked through all the suggestions in Kapilarya.com fix 100% disk usage in windows 11 and also lots of other suggestions on the internet but to no avail.

The one thing that has changed a bit since I started to work on this computer to try and resolve the problem is that sometimes, after about 20 mins or so the disc usage drops to normal levels for an idle computer with nothing running and then starts to fluctuate wildly from 0 to 100 and everything in between - see image attached.

Any thoughts and new ideas gratefully received. Its so annoying and has rendered the computer useless.

Disc usage is 100%

Disc usage is 100% whenever i open a program or when i turn on my laptop. Due to this issue my system runs very slow almost every time please help. I have tried everything in my knowledge to fix it and i failed.
