Windows 10: My disk is write protection and I can't paste files anymore, how to disable???

Below this scrwenshot, I there's no "read only" option there. Any help????? Pls i need it withing 1 hour.

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

Remove the write-protection from the disk

Hello Team,

From the last two days when I try to copy and paste any file on my internal Hard disk, I am getting this error The disk is write protected. (Remove the Write protection or use another disk).

I have tried to clear readonly in CMD using attributes disk clear readonly command. but it does not resolve the issue!

I have also tried to fix this using regedit.

“Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicie

But I am failed to fix this. Now I am not able to copy and paste files in this drive and also not able to format it. If you have any suggestion/fix, please let me know.

Any help will be appreciated.

Enable or Disable Disk Write Protection in Windows  


Hmmm... list disk doesn't see the hdd in a usb external holder. Thats the one I need to fix so its cleared of read only.

edit: It does show under file explorer as drive E: Here is a screen shot.
