Windows 10: My display settings keep reverting , will not keep new settings help

I have an external monitor which I use with my DELL laptop - I choose to display on both laptop and monitor BUT settings keep reverting to display on external monitor ONLY , so when I travel with the laptop the display does not work! Can anyone help me fix this?thanks Ruben

To reset the settings back to default, follow these steps:

• Go to your desktop, right click and select Display Settings.
• Choose the appropriate settings from the options under Display.

Let us know if the above steps resolved the issue.
