Hi Mark, I think your hitting on my problem. I am trying to correct my dob in my microsoft account. I accessed this from a google search. For some reason my dob is set as 2017 and therefore has a child status. I was born in 69 and Im now unable to download
software updates for itunes and the like on to my desktop unless a I correct my dob. I will try the links you have suggested.

Since the answer apparently varies based on the laws of the country you live in, what you se when viewing this document may not be the same as me if you're not living in the US.

I see options both for "I'm an adult, but Microsoft thinks I'm a child" and "Consent is required for this account". which since they both offer similar instructions to fix, I assume are simply different possible prompts at different steps for the same sort of inaccurate date issue you're having.

Can't truly say whether this will work, or you may need to try to get directly in contact with Microsoft Support for aid, but it's what I could find online that may help you to do this on your own.
