    My Documents and other files are gone once I restart my PC device.


    I use my laptop for various things and I know we do that too. For work, Leisure and presentation. So this just suddenly happened last Nov. 14 I was at my office doing some loads of works encoding grades at my microsoft excel and stuff.
    When suddenly when I was at my break I tried playing games. then the screen when blank as in black out then I tried to restart it.
    When It was finished restarting I was shocked seeing my desktop looking empty and new.
    all that was left there was the search engines,
    Microsoft edge, Chrome and the game that I was playing.
    ALL OF MY DOCUMENTS ARE MISSING
    I CHECKED MY MICROSOFT ACCOUNT AND MY FILES FROM ONE DRIVE ARE NOT THERE!


    HELP! I also recall updating my windows but not this worse!
    my files from work are gone!

    DO you think you know what is wrong on my pc?

    I don't even have that ammount of budget to buy or subscribe to a premium microsoft devices.
    seriously I need help on this.

    Documents/Pictures folders under 'This PC' refer to onedrive - not the local folders

    Since the only folder that has incorrect file path is the Documents folder under This PC, we would suggest you do the same steps provided above. However, do it in your Documents folder under This PC. To do so, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Open File Explorer
    • Click This PC
    • Right-click on Documents
    • Click Properties
    • Click Location
    • Click Restore Default
    • Click Apply
    • Click OK
    Also, we would like to inform you that "winhelponline.com" is not associated with Microsoft.

    files have gone

    I MOVED a directory from one W2K PC to another. However, the target PC (which has a backup unit on it and thus the point of the move) crashed halfway through the move and I had to reboot. I then decided that I needed to sort out why the PC crashed and MOVED the directory back again.

    However, in the process, most of the files have disappeared! What I don't understand is why the original files were deleted if they were not copied over.

    As far as I can see, the files have gone for good. Is there any hope? Friend suggest Data Recovery Wizard, can I try that?

    Why did the startup window get cleared?

    I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.
