Windows 10: MY DOCUMENTS is under ONE DRIVE. How do I unlink it and change to the standard location?

I have a new computer. I uninstalled ONE DRIVE and have never used it. When I looked at the default location of MY DOCUMENTS, it was under the ONE DRIVE folder. I have a new HP desktop running Windows 11 home. During initial setup, somehow, the "Documents" folder in the navigation pane of file explorer was setup to be linked to one drive, i.e. c:\users\<user name>\onedrive\Documents. I don't know how it happened. But I don't want this setting. I want the "Documents" folder points to the default location, i.e. c:\users\<user name>\Documents. I added a new registry entry that was a post suggestion to fix




I'm suspicious it has some thing to do with Documents being in OneDrive?

The folder, mydocs, on my G drive is a copy of the Documents folder from a replaced drive, when I first got the
error I changed the folder name to myDocs thinking maybe the problem was do to having the same folder name
on the target move location.

Follow the same steps to restore the default location for your Pictures folder.



Give these steps a shot and check if the folders are unlinked from OneDrive.

 

I changed my location for 'Documents' and now Drive D has the 'Documents' icon

I've always changed the location of Documents and Downloads to my 'Data' partition. I just did a clean install of Windows 10 and changed Documents location to drive D. Usually the icon for these two folders follows and displays on drive D.

Not sure why it didn't this time, but can you tell me how I can change these 2 folder icons? I know how to change icons, but I don't see these 2 icons in the list of Windows icons.
