Windows 10: My elite series 2 controller wont work on anything except steam

    My elite series 2 controller wont work on anything except steam


    So recently I discovered that my elite series 2 only works on steam. when steam is closed tho, I can use the controller to select things on the desktop but both Fortnite and State of Decay 2 non steam games will not respond to button inputs. stranger still, when I play state of decay and press a button, all the on screen prompts change to controller so the game is aware that I have pressed a controller button but will not respond to anything. Fortnite, im not certain recognizes anything. whats going on?...

    Elite series 2 controller

    Hey folks! i recently got my elite series 2 and it works fine but. on windows it shows up as an xbox one controller

    and in steam it shows up as that aswell.
    I'm quite confused as to why.

    windows 10: latest version
    latest firmware for elite series 2

    Hello, My Xbox elite controller series 2 right thumbstick just stops working + when playing Destiny 2 in menu it changes from controller to mouse back a fourth.
