DHCP is the new guy's favorite configuration. When DHCP fails, Windows turns on APIPA. DHCP assigns an IP address to the network adapter and also the router address and at least one DNS address. No muss. No fuss. Grandma can handle do-it-all-for-her DHCP. Then, should the cable briefly disconnect, APIPA swings into action to, at least, provide some local network connectivity. No Internet. The Dell T330 Server is running Windows 2016. It has been for years. It performs many functions. One function is "web server." Under the rules, a web server must have a static IP address. DHCP

Windows Server 2016 Upgrade

When updating from windows server 2012 R2 to server 2016, I'm not getting the step by step procedures where you can select keep file and apps and other steps. I just get the setup screen, which after couple of minutes it display a window to select what type of windows server you want to install.

Once selected it does a full install of windows server 2016, which re-images the C drive. Afterwards you have to re-install all your applications.

Any suggestions on why it doesn't go through the step by step procedures.

Duplicate SID for Windows Server 2016

What is the cause if Windows Server running with same local SID and what is the solution to fix on duplicate local SID on Windows Server.

We figure using command PsGetsid, some of the VM on windows server running with same local SID. Impact if we delete the duplicate SID?

1. It will Auto generate new SID?
   
2. The applications installed in the Microsoft window server 2016 will be effect or remove?
