My External display resolution dropped suddenly and i cant do anything about it.

I have an Asus ZenBook, and for the last 3 months I have had it connected to an LG CX 55'', I never had any problems with the resolution with it always working at 4k 120 hz. 2 days ago, i plug it into my Thunderbolt 4 to HDMI 2.1 cable and the resolution is stuck at 1080p 60Hz. In the intel Graphics commander i can see that it says my tv is compatible with 4k 120, but I cannot change it. I have tried everything even reinstalling drivers, Windows. When I try Win Shift Ctrl B, the computer dies for 3 min before I can restart it again.I tried using Microsoft useless Get Help, which wouldnt even l

external monitor screen resolution seems off

    Hi guys,

I just updated my graphic driver for my external monitor and all of the sudden, the resolution of my 2nd monitor looks odd. The scaling is a lot bigger and the task bar at the bottom of my screen is bigger on my 2nd monitor. How do I resolve this issue?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi guys,

I have resolved the issue. Because I've updated to the latest graphic drivers, it only provides me fewer display resolution options and didn't have the optimal display resolution for a 24 inch monitor from the drop down list. Therefore, I rolled back to the old driver and it allowed me to pick the correct resolution from the drop down list.

All is good now. Hope this would also help others who faced the similar issue.

External Monitor and Laptop Monitor Screen Resolution Issue

Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings (at the bottom). Select the monitor you want to change the resolution on, then change the resolution setting in the drop down list.
