My external hard disk still exists on explorer after I physically unplugged it

It begans to go wrong after I reinstall my computer still exists, the issues that it still exist although disk management showed that it isnt initalized. It stucks when I want to uninstall this device. I checked that everything modified drives wasn't the fault cause this, I turned my controller to AHCI because I encountered that problem on every mode RAID, AHCI .etcso it wasnt problem

    :)

  2. External Hard disk contents are not visible.

    Hi Pranoti,

For us to narrow down your concern with your external hard disk, we would like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?
    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Do you hear any clicking sound when connecting your hard disk?

In the meantime, we suggest that you update all your device driver.

We look forward to your response.

    External Hard Drive

    Hi John,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Let us know if you need further help.

    External hard drive not recognised

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.
