    My external hard drive is only visible in Devices and Printers.


    I have Windows 10, and my external hard drive isn’t being recognized. I’ve tried all the common solutions, but it still won’t show up. I can only see it in Devices and Printers, and in Device Manager it appears under disk drives, but I can’t do anything with it. It doesn’t show up in Disk Management at all. I’ve searched for help, but all the suggestions require actions I can’t take since it only appears in Devices and Printers, where I can only access properties, troubleshoot, or remove the disk. I’m fine with formatting it if needed; I just want to get it working again.

    as advised I selected "list".. and for a long time it was like this..

    Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.
